Dr. Paul Stone
As a BP Plc technology director reporting to the CTO, information technology and services, Dr. Paul Stone has been responsible for identifying business opportunities based on the introduction of new digital technologies, as well as responding to existing business needs with innovative digital solutions. In this role, Stone was previously responsible for the CTO predictive-analytics program that introduced this technology, as well as pattern-recognition techniques, as a means to more effective business operations. More recently, Dr. Stone has worked with BP business units within E&P and refining, coordinating programs that solve current business problems.
In his 27-year career with BP, Dr. Stone has held numerous posts related to operations and digital-technology management, e-business and digital-technology consulting, as well as strategy and architecture.
He received his PhD in Chemistry from Oxford University, U.K., and his MSc in Business Process Management from Cranfield University, U.K.
Networking meetings are generally held on 6:30 - 8:00 pm. at the

Art Smith
Art founded Triple Double in August 2007 after he completed the sale of John S. Herold, Inc. to IHS. He serves as portfolio manager and oversees the firm’s energy research.
From 1984 to 2007, Art was Chairman and CEO of John S. Herold, Inc. and grew the company into a widely recognized independent authority in oil and gas research and consulting. From 1976 to 1984, he was an energy equity analyst with Argus Research Corp., The First Boston Corporation and Oppenheimer & Co., Inc.
Art currently serves on the Board of Directors of PAA Natural Gas Storage, L.P. and Pioneer Southwest Energy Partners, L.P. Previously, he has served on the boards of Plains All American L.L.P., Pioneer Natural Resources, Cabot Oil & Gas Corporation, Evergreen Resources, Inc., Parker & Parsley Petroleum, the New York Society of Security Analysts, and was a past appointee to the National Petroleum Council. Mr. Smith received a BA from Duke University and a MBA from New York University’s Stern School of
Business. In addition, he holds the CFA designation.
